I'm always reading something, usually multiple books at a time.

Triggered Memory

The Little Fellow - Marguerite Henry, Rich Rudish

Recently, my family visited a farm that neighbors my parents' summer cabin.  We'd been invited over to see a mom quarter horse and her four-month-old colt.  Seeing the little colt cavorting and the proud, protective mom-horse triggered a memory I hadn't thought about in years.  I remembered a children's book I'd read, sometime in the first half of the 1970s.  The story was told from the point of view of a colt who was doted on by the grown-up horses on the farm.  He enjoyed being the center of attention, but suddenly that spotlight was pulled away from him when a newborn foal come along.  Suddenly, it seems as though every horse in the herd is obsessed by the newcomer!  Eventually, the narrator-horse overcomes his jealousy and becomes a friend to the new baby.

Once this memory came to me, I really wanted to rediscover the name of the book.  It took some digging, but I found it!  It's The Little Fellow, by Marguerite Henry.  Here is the site where I found the description.
