I'm always reading something, usually multiple books at a time.
This is very much a middle book. The stakes are raised. There are twists. The reluctant hero comes into his own and his formerly latent powers are fully realized. He is ready to forge ahead into book three.
Sometimes the narrative felt too frantic--as though the author felt he needed to squeeze in MORE! ACTION! Don't get me wrong, I'm still interested enough in the outcome that I plan to read the next installment when it comes out. But really, I still feel as though the whole story could be fit into an only somewhat-larger single book.
